PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Hun Sen said that Cambodia plans to receive 5 million Chinese tourists by 2025.
Speaking at the 3rd Ring Road’s groundbreaking ceremony on January 14 2019,, Samdech Hun Sen said that in 2018, Cambodia received 6.2 million foreign tourists including Chinese tourists with increasing from 1.2 million in 2017 to 1.6 million in 2018.
“During the state visit of former Chinese president to Cambodia, Hu Jintao, I requested 0.01 percent of Chinese tourists to visit Cambodia but during my state visit to China for next week I will talk to all Chinese leaders by requesting 0.05 percent of Chinese people to visit Cambodia”. He said.
He added “Currently, China’s aviation sector has more direct flights to Cambodia, and I will ask Chinese Company which is investing airport project in Koh Kong province to build an airport with capable of accommodating 3 million passengers and eating Cambodian rice” Advisor to the Cambodian Association of Travel Agents (CATA), Mr. Ho Vandy, said that it is strategy of Cambodian Prime Minister; his dream would come trues because of diplomatic relation, trades, especially One-China’s policy, and comprehensive strategy of both countries. Cambodia will reach its goals by starting off early 2019 to 2015 which still remains 7 more to work on.
“What we should do is how to prepare to receive this large number of tourists because we don’t want only people but we need to strengthen and also provide quality of service” he added.
