Oddar Meanchey, The government has required Oddar Meanchey’s authorities to open another new international border gate in the near future to attract international tourists and facilitate cross-border trade.
Kheun Nhorn, Deputy Governor of Oddar Meanchey province, said recently that the international border gate to be launched in the future will be at Anlong Veng and Chub Kor Ki, while there are now border gates with Thailand such as O Smachand and Chorm Srongam which are already in the process of pushing up trade with Thailand and
“These international border gates allow national and international tourists to visit historical sites in Oddar Meanchey province and make it easier for people to export goods to neighboring markets,” Mr. Nhorn said.
From year to year, domestic and international tourists increased and for Oddar Meanchey, there are 3 border gates and one international border gate as the three bilateral-border gates are O Smach, Anlong Veng and Chub Kor Ki, according to Mr. Nhorn.
“But we will open a new international border soon. For this opening, we will see that the exchange of goods between Cambodia and Thailand, which can make our people earn a better living, and the tourism sector can be the number one priority as tourists can first come into our region and can pass without staying in Oddar Meanchey, but tourists also park in Oddar Meanchey,” he said.
“Tourists can also travel to Siem Reap via these two entrances to O Smach and Chorm Srongam, so tourists can stay in Siem Reap, and when there are a lot of tourists, we can sell food or some other things, even if the guests don’t stay, they still need to eat or buy things in our province to go back.”
“In historical sites, as well as restaurants and hotels, provincial authorities have advised all businesses to properly dispose of garbage in order to take care of environmental sanitation in line with the slogan that stated Good Service to Attract International Tourists,” Mr. Nhorn said.
In Oddar Meanchey, there are a number of historical sites such as Anlong Veng Resort, Ta Mok House Museum, Ta Moan Temple, Ta Krabey Temple, and Other Resorts.
