Sihanoukille province governor Yun Min said that about 70,000 Chinese tourists and tourists staying and visiting Sihanoukville are helping to speed up economic growth.
The governor said at a meeting to review the initial statistics of foreigners staying and doing business in Sihanoukville province on February 7, 2019, said that Chinese investment in Preah Sihanouk province had a positive effect and there is a great deal of help for the province to accelerate rapid economic growth, but it had few negative consequences.
He continued by estimating that in Sihanoukville between 90 and 95 percent of people were appreciated with Chinese investment and tourists to Sihanoukville. Provincial authorities have implemented a policy of mobilizing investors and tourists to increase the national income, encourage the management of foreigners, ensure security, investment and tourism, making the province more developed even though its investment affects the sewage system environment, and infrastructure slightly.
There are currently about 200 high-rise buildings in Sihanoukville, and many more are expected to be built in the future.
Migration Director General Kith Chantharith said that rapid influx of thousands of foreigners and the rapid development of casinos, resorts, factories, enterprises, guesthouses and other businesses are mostly Chinese investment and business. Therefore, the local police and authorities continue to apply geographical liabilities under immigration law, labor law, trade law, provide information on foreigners living in order to encourage foreigners to obtain work permits and the workbook, increase the legal control measures for foreigners staying in their area properly.
According to the report on foreigners living and business in Sihanoukville, there were 2,052 enterprises found that Sihanoukville has 40,770 permanent male residents, 8,387 permanent female residents, and 57 nationalities, and as well as 167 small businesses.
