The Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge of Steung Trang is constructed faster than the plan

Phnom Penh: A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport said that the construction of the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge in Steung Trang, Krouch Chhmar district now appears to be faster than planned.

The construction of the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge of Steung Trang, Kroch Chhmar District so far has reached about 33.3 percent as the construction team is actively working and, if according to the project plan, it would be 23 percent of the plan, he said.

“Sometimes it can be fast and sometimes it can be slow in the next phase. I do not dare to say anything now and when completed is completed, the plan is scheduled to end in 2021,” he added.

Samdech Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia on February 9, 2018, called for the construction of the “Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge of Steung Trang, Kroch Chhmar,” a new crossing bridge connecting the Mekong River to the territory from Kampong Cham to the territory of Tbong Khmum.

The bridge being constructed is from the west riverbank, located at Boeung Deng Village, Prek Kak Commune, Steung Trang District, Kampong Cham Province, crossing the Mekong River to the east side of Kdoul Leu village, Trea Commune, Kroch Chhmar District, Tboung Khmum Province, totaling 1,131 meters long and width of 13.50 meters and the bridge is a type of concrete bridge.

According to the project, the bridge will cost $ 56.99 million in concessional loans from the Government of China, along with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s contribution to solve the impact and clearance of unexploded ordnance.
