Phnom Penh: Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC) has started construction of a cable bridge connecting National Road No 5 to the Chroy Changva satellite city.

OCIC deputy general director Touch Samnang said by phone on February 14 that the cable connection was already under construction and that the team has been working on the project and after resolving the impact with the local people. He said that the bridge is about 500 meters long, with a cable in the middle and has two lanes and one lane for motorway.

“The bridge will cost 35 million US dollars, which is the government’s money from the land leasing of the Chroy Changvar satellite city of OCIC,” he said. “The bridge is planned to take 3 years to complete.”0

Touch Samnang said the bridge was designed to help ease traffic jams along National Highway 5 and Chroy Changvar since the concrete bridge was constructed, partly facilitating traffic congestion in Chroy Changvar.

At the same time, OCIC is studying and addressing the impact of the construction of the 400-meter underground tunnel, which is under national road 5 today.

Touch Samnang said that if timely settlement, the construction of the bridge and the tunnel may end simultaneously, but the if impact is not resolved in time, the tunnel can be done in the next step.
