Phnom Penh, As the construction of the expressway Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville is nearly happening and people are eager to see this road begin the construction, an official of Ministry of Public Works and Transport MPWT has revealed the exact time of the expressway construction.
Vasim Soriya, spokesman of MPWT, said recently that the construction would take place sometime soon because Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of MPWT said the 190-kilometer expressway will begin construction in March.
“The timetable for the construction that the Senior Minister said is really certain, but sometimes the timely resolution of the impact cannot also make it in time; however, the project will go smoothly,” he said, adding that, “I can only confirm that the Senior Minister has said construction of this route will be in March.”
How will this route connect? The road will depart at the intersection of the railway line near Kob Srov and on the right of National Road 4, and it will run alongside the national highway No. 4, about 30 kilometers and approaching Kampong Speu town, and this road will cross National Road 4 to the left, according to Mr. Soriya.
He said that after crossing National Road 4 to the left, this route will run along National Road 4 on the left-hand side to Prey Nup district, and then this road crosses national road 4 to the right and continues straight to the seaside of Sihanoukville.
The route will be built by a Chinese company that has imported $100 million worth of machinery to Cambodia. The company is also responsible for the construction of the Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway project.
Mr. Soriya said that Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway would be built on a fence on both sides so that there would be no crossing points, it disrupted the traveling and could not drive as fast as the speed of driving on the road, because on this route drivers can drive at speeds from 120 to 160 kilometers an hour.
