Phnom Penh: The government has continued to exempt transfer tax on homes or condominiums worth less than $70,000 for 2022 as part of measures to control impacts and rehabilitate the economy in the context of Covid-19.

Mr. Phan Phalla, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, said at a press conference on the new economic recovery strategy on December 14.

He said the transfer tax exemption for home buyers with a value of less than $70,000 would be extended, but did not specify how long it would take, pending an official announcement from the General Department of Taxation.

The transfer tax exemption for houses and condominiums worth less than $ 70,000 was first announced by Samdech Hun Sen in February 2020, with a one-year exemption from January 2021 and a continued exemption until 2022.
