Phnom Penh.H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over and delivered the opening address at the Cultural and Tourism Promotion Night Event “Clouds Accompany the Moon, Deep Friendship Between Good Neighbors”.
The ceremony was held under the high presidency of H.E. EK Sam Ol, Supreme Privy Councilor to His Majesty the King, Member of the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party Central Committee, and President of the Cambodia-China Friendship Association; H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister; H.E. WANG Wenbin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia; and H.E. PENG Bin, Deputy Minister of Publicity of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and Director of the Spiritual Civilization Construction Office of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee. The event was organized to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 and the Cambodia-China Tourism Year 2025, attended by Excellencies, Lok Chumteavs, Neak Oknhas, Oknhas, representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, national and international distinguished guests, Chinese delegations, influencers, Chinese private sector representatives, artists, and content creators totaling over 600 participants at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center.
On this solemn and grand occasion, the Minister expressed his sincere appreciation and deep gratitude to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia, the Phnom Penh Capital Administration, private tourism sectors from both Cambodia and China operating in Cambodia-China tourism business, artists, and all relevant stakeholders who collaborated to organize and participate in this Night Event “Clouds Accompany the Moon, Deep Friendship Between Good Neighbors” with great solemnity and splendor.
The Minister emphasized that Cambodia and China are ironclad friends with a long-standing historical relationship spanning over a thousand years, sharing similar cultures and traditions. Through the Diamond Hexagon Cooperation, tourist exchanges, and people-to-people ties serve as an indispensable bridge. In this context, the Cultural and Tourism Promotion Night Event “Clouds Accompany the Moon, Deep Friendship Between Good Neighbors” marks another milestone and a new historical chapter towards deeper and closer relations between Cambodia and China. It active supports the implementation of the “Cambodia-China Tourism Year” campaign and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), acting as a vital catalyst in connecting and promoting the rich cultural and traditional tourism of both nations, particularly fostering people-to-people exchanges and boosting two-way tourist traffic.
The event featured diverse joint cultural and artistic performances from Cambodia and China, including the combined musical performance “Clouds Accompany the Moon,” the dance “Moonlight Rays,” the traditional Khmer dance “Blessing Dance,” the Khmer folk dance “Fishing Dance,” sharing stories of Cambodia-China friendship, joint Street Dance performances by Cambodian and Chinese youth, and numerous collaborative songs reflecting the cultural traditions and deep bond of friendship between the peoples of both nations.
The Minister reaffirmed the temporary visa exemption for Chinese citizens from June 15 to October 15, 2026, aimed at facilitating travel and attracting more Chinese tourists to Cambodia, especially during the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign. He extended a warm invitation to Chinese tourists and investors to visit and invest in Cambodia, highlighting that Cambodia is a safe, friendly, brotherly, and warm destination in line with the campaign “Cambodia: Kingdom of Wonder, Feel the Warmth.”.
