Cambodia, Iran sign MOU to boost tourism sector

       The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Islamic Republic of Iran sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation to attract tourists from Iran, a country with a population of over 92 million, ranking second in the Middle East and 17th in the world.

With the high-level approval of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and on the occasion of leading a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Tourism to attend the UN Tourism- 26th General Assembly in Riyadh capital; on the morning of November 10, 2025, H.E. Mr. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Mr. Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a large country and a major economic power in the Middle East, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation between Cambodia and Iran to further strengthen and expand the friendship and cooperation between the Royal Governments and people of the two countries. Through this MoU, Cambodia can diversify its market to the Middle East, expand Muslim-friendly tourism, and create value-added tourism products and heritage tourism to reach out to the Iran tourists who is 5 times more than to visit Cambodia, and investment opportunities, especially in the tourism sector, with the convenience of air connectivity through Etihad Airways’ direct flights between Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, which began in early October.
