Cambodia and Canada to jointly promote tourism cooperation

       Phnom Penh. On the afternoon of January 14, 2026, H.E. Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, grants H.E. Mr. Christian DesRoches, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada, and his esteemed colleagues  a courtesy call on the new year and discuss work on promoting bilateral tourism cooperation and organizing side events for the 20th Francophonie Summit 2026 in Siem Reap province at the Ministry’s headquarter.

During the fruitful discussion, H.E. Ambassador highly appreciated and valued the progress in all sectors and the excellent safety factors that Cambodia has achieved to date. H.E. Ambassador also highlighted to the Minister the excellent cooperation in all sectors with Cambodia in the past and the major investments that Canadian investors should be proud of in Cambodia, such as Advanced Bank of Asia, or commonly known as ABA, which decided to invest based on the investment and tourism potential as well as the dynamism of the Cambodian people. At the same time, H.E Ambassador also highlighted the Embassy’s support for the Ministry of Tourism in organizing the “Village Francophone”, a major side event of the 20th Francophone Summit in 2026 in Siem Reap province.

In response, H.E. Minister thanked the Government and people of Canada for their continued support for Cambodia in all areas, especially in the tourism sector, through the steady increase in the number of Canadian tourists visiting Cambodia each year, including the direct investment of the National Bank of Canada in Cambodia, which has facilitated the provision of payment services to Canadian tourists and businessmen traveling to Cambodia.
