AIAI Commits to Working with Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism to Develop a New Tourism Product

Phnom Penh. Angkor International Airport Investment (AIAI) Commits to Working with Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism to Develop a New Tourism Product: Night-Time Temple Visits

 

H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, received Mr. Lu Wei, Chairman of Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (AIAI), for a working discussion on promoting the tourism sector, enhancing air connectivity, and advancing tourism investment in Siem Reap Province.

During the meeting, Mr. Lu Wei presented three key objectives and proposed projects of the company: 1. Development of a New Night-Time Angkor Tourism Experience, H.E. the Minister expressed his support for the development of new tourism products in the Angkor area aimed at enriching visitor experiences, extending tourists’ length of stay, and increasing tourism expenditure. These initiatives may include night-time tourism activities, arts and cultural performances, light shows incorporating modern technologies, as well as international events, all to be implemented in accordance with heritage conservation principles and sustainable development, 2. Investment and Redevelopment of the Former Siem Reap International Airport Site.

 

The company proposed transforming the former Siem Reap International Airport site into a multifunctional development zone integrating tourism services, commercial activities, entertainment, and other economic activities. H.E. the Minister expressed his support for the initiative and encouraged the working team to conduct comprehensive studies and prepare a detailed development plan that ensures sustainability and inclusiveness, 3. Strengthening Cooperation to Attract More International Tourists to Cambodia

 

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in promoting Cambodia as a tourism destination in international markets, particularly the Chinese market, through collaboration with tour operators and international partners.

 

The cooperation will focus on launching new air routes, increasing flight frequencies, organizing joint tourism promotion campaigns, and attracting more high-quality international tourists to Cambodia.

 

Furthermore, H.E. the Minister commended AIAI for its significant investment in Cambodia’s aviation infrastructure and reaffirmed that the Ministry of Tourism will continue to work closely with the company and all relevant stakeholders to develop new tourism products, facilitate and strengthen air connectivity, and enhance the competitiveness of Cambodia as a tourism destination.

These efforts aim to attract a greater number of high-quality international visitors to Cambodia, in line with the country’s direction toward sustainable tourism development.

 

In conclusion, H.E. the Minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Tourism’s commitment to working closely with AIAI and relevant stakeholders to advance the implementation of priority projects and achieve tangible results.

In this regard, H.E. the Minister assigned the Ministry of Tourism’s technical working team to work closely with AIAI’s team to conduct detailed studies on each proposed project, coordinate with relevant institutions, and develop step-by-step implementation plans. These efforts are intended to accelerate the development of new tourism products, promote tourism investment, and enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of efforts to attract more international tourists to Cambodia.
