Siem Reap. Siem Reap Province: H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Angkor Equinox Cycling Event in the Green Season” under the theme “Sports Connected with Tourism.”.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, the APSARA National Authority, the Angkor Institution, and other relevant entities. The cycling route covered a distance of approximately 12 kilometers and attracted a total of 1,299 participants exceeding expectations including private sector representatives, content creators, influencers, KOLs, and national and international tourists, with international visitors arriving from France, Belgium, Germany, Japan, and China.
The event was organized to promote and drive sports tourism products through obstacle cycling in the Angkor forest, as well as to promote the Angkor Equinox event from September 21 to 23, 2026, aimed at boosting domestic tourism movement, particularly attracting more tourists to Siem Reap Province during the green season.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister highlighted: “The cycling event in the Angkor area serves as a side event to celebrate the Angkor Equinox, acting as a bridge connecting the hearts of participants with cultural heritage and nature, while creating new, unforgettable tourism experiences in the miraculous land of Angkor.”
The Minister also appealed to citizens, male and female athletes, youth, and all tourists to foster a spirit of patriotism, love for the homeland, knowledge of the land, and preservation of heritage and nature in line with the concepts of “Tourism Connected to the Land” and “To Love the Nation is to Know the Land,” while jointly showing the world that Cambodia is a safe, warm, and hospitable tourism destination that always welcomes tourists from all directions.
Additionally, the Minister instructed the Ministry of Tourism working group to continue collaborating with the provincial administration, ministries, institutions, and relevant stakeholders to organize the Angkor Equinox cycling event every year and include it in the Ministry of Tourism’s annual Events Calendar to turn it into an attractive sports tourism event for Siem Reap Province and Cambodia.
