Phnom Penh: Koh Kong province has shown greater potential to attract investors to this area, in which some public and private development projects have attracted more and more national and international investors.

Mr. Tuy Poheng, branch manager of Century 21 Zillion Holding in Koh Kong province, said that some public and private development projects have been showing the potential of land investment in the province.

These include the Darasakor International Airport project, the National Highway, National Road 48 project connecting National Road 4 at Sre Ambel district to Koh Kong provincial town, the deep-sea port project of Neak Ouknha Ly Yong Phat, and the National Road 10 project connecting from Pursat to Koh Kong.

He added that in addition to this project, there are other projects that promote the land sector in Koh Kong province with more potential and attract investment, such as the special economic zone project of Neak Ouknha Kith Meng and many other private projects.

He added that in 2022, land sales and prices in Koh Kong province have risen sharply, almost stronger than the time Cambodia and the world have not experienced Covid-19.

He also suggested that investors to buy the coastal areas to invest for profit in the future, because compared to other provinces adjacent to the sea, Koh Kong land price is still acceptable.

He added that land in some districts of Koh Kong province generally costs $3 to $5 per square meter, and land in the city costs at least $15 per square meter, but there is also land in some areas adjacent to the main road. In the good location, it can cost up to $ 2,000 per square meter.

“For 2022, the real estate sector in Koh Kong province is expected to improve, despite the spread of Omicron,” he said.

Recently, a large European company announced its plans to invest in Koh Kong province on a large smart city project called “Future” worth 600 billion US dollars. However, Mr. Sok Sothy, Deputy Governor of Koh Kong Province, said by telephone on February 16 that he was not aware of any new projects coming to Koh Kong Province and that he only heard the publication of this project. Still, province has not yet received official information on major investment projects and no official documents have been submitted to the province yet.
